H.U.G. the Official HR500 User Group > 110 scanning

I know that it has been already asked, but has anyone got experience with 110 film strips?

We have made a couple of cardboard masks and each version gets a bit more functional. However, we wonder if anyone has either:

1. crafted something out of plastic to sit inside a manual mount frame;

2. found a way to attach a strip (maybe plastic) to feed through the strip feeder. (This is interesting, because the 110 frames are supposedly fixed placement, and that would allow a keyhole for the LED stop on the strip feeder.)

Or some other solution.

Happy to discuss ideas and swap suggestions.

We are scanning 110, 126 and 127 with our HR500. We had a full extra set of the single frame masks so we modified the 6x6 mask (for 110) and the 6x7 (for 126). Our modifications were pretty simple, we just found thin sheets of black metal cut them down to crop in the top and bottom of the existing frame, then flocked them with black tape. With each mask we can scan up to two frames at a time, so not the quickest route, but effective nonetheless. There is also little point in scanning 110 on anything but the highest magnification to get any usably-sized file out of it, but you have probably discovered that yourself already. We never found a way to modify our strip gate, though we thought about it. The fact that we only have one set for each though, deterred us from doing anything that might ruin its functionality. But really, once you get a good set of masks in those single frame holders, especially a mask that scans two at a time, it really does not go that slowly.

Not sure if that helps, other than to say that it is definitely possible and ours works well enough.
