H.U.G. the Official HR500 User Group > HR-500 Boot-Up Malfunction. . . Reset Switch So Computer Sees Scanner and it Beeps?

I have gotten a working SCSI card for my HR-500 scanner. We installed it, the computer saw it, and it was working fine. The computer saw the card, saw the scanner,we had the main interlock disabled while we were troubleshooting it, replaced some bad fuses, and got it working once, turned the bulb on and off three four times (without burning it out), open and closed the shutter same, jogged the film advance same, and it was fine.

Got an error, rebooted (once wihtout the 70mm gate, then with the next nine or ten times), the lights on the card under the lid have stopped blinking, scanner does not beep even after being on several hours now.

Can not find a master reset switch.

Am worried we moved the scanner away from home or did something stupid jogging it around to test it out in the SAM.

Have tested bulb other functionalities with a multimeter, can't seem to find any shorts, bad components. Is there an easy stupid fix for this?

Hi Karl,

What is the exact error you are getting?

There is no "master reset" switch. Make sure you have power. Otherwise, what I would suggest is to detach the scanner from the computer, remove the SCSI card you installed, remove any attachments (long-roll, etc) and power it up and see if you get your normal beep sequence (1 beep, 2 beeps, 3 beeps), if not you have some hardware problems.

Hey Ray, thanks for that extra "free-be." Unfortunately (for us, for our scanner) looks like we are still in need of your services. Will be calling you on the telephone shortly.
